Powerhouse Cheer Squad to Make History with NFL Team's Professional Cheerleaders

This Sunday, the Winston-Salem State University Powerhouse of Red & White Cheerleading program will make history by joining forces with the TopCats, the professional cheerleading squad for the Carolina Panthers. This exciting collaboration marks a first-of-its-kind opportunity for an HBCU cheer squad to perform alongside NFL team's cheerleaders.

The Powerhouse, known for their dynamic HBCU Stomp and Shake style, will merge their choreography with that of the TopCats' professional dance routine. The fusion of styles promises to be a thrilling spectacle, showcasing the unique talents of both teams.

'We're thrilled to have this opportunity to work with the TopCats,' said NeSheila Washington, head coach of the Powerhouse cheerleaders. 'This is a remarkable moment for our program and a great way to represent WSSU during this historical event.'

The game will feature several other talented groups, including the A&T's Blue and Gold Marching Machine Band, State University Champagne Dancers, N.C., and S.C. cheer squads.

In preparation for the big day, the Powerhouse and TopCats have been practicing together, with three members from each team working together to choreograph eight counts of music. The result is a high-energy routine that promises to get the crowd on their feet.

The Panthers announced earlier this week that their Week 15 game would be themed 'Representation Matters: Celebrating Black Culture,' making Sunday's event an even more special occasion.

'We're excited to see our styles come together and make history with the TopCats,' said Washington. 'We want to make our 'RAMily' proud as well as showcase our talents on this big stage.'

The game will be broadcast live on Twitch, allowing fans from around the world to catch all the action and cheer along with the Powerhouse and TopCats.
